Customizing The Standard Clone Button

I have seen this question come up on the answers community quite often so i thought i'd put together a post to outline some of the use cases and solutions:

• The need to create a custom clone button and populate only certain fields on the cloned record:

• The need to populate only one or a couple of fields on the cloned record:

Solution:  Create a custom button by capturing the standard clone url and adding the salesforce id of the field you want to change to the end.  Just replace the red sections with your information and you're done!

i.e. 

https://na15.salesforce.com/{!Yourobject__c.Id}/e?clone=1&retURL=%2F{!Yourobject__c.Id}&yourfieldidhere="Value"
